Job opportunities in an area will always be positive news for those seeking to homes or rent out properties. That is why the start of the process to fill 1,000 posts at the new multi-million-pound dpd depot is exciting news not just for employment prospects but for those with property in the area and people looking for lucrative investment opportunities.
The £100 million depot is a major boost for Hinckley and the whole of Leicestershire and will provide opportunities for those already living in the area, those looking to move into the county and those people who will ultimately provide the homes for these workers to live in.
The parcel hub, situated close to the M69 and A5 in Hinckley, is the largest of its kind anywhere in Europe. The massive warehouse, which was completed ahead of the planned date, is 500 yards long and measures an incredible 360,000 square feet. The site itself spans 32 acres.
The start of 2015 will see staff being recruited for a wide range of vacancies. These include opportunities for managers, parcel loaders, vehicle maintenance staff, IT workers, administration staff, security personnel and HGV mechanics.
The depot is a major part of DPD’s efforts to manage the huge growth being experienced in the sector of online parcels. It will increase the company’s capacity for parcels by in excess of 65 per cent.
The company already has more than 7,000 UK-based employees and operates in excess of 3,000 vehicles across the country. It delivers around 1.6 million parcels each week, including those for Marks and Spencer and John Lewis.
The Hinckley Site should be working fully by September 2015, boosting an economy and employment climate already helped by the plethora of big businesses housed at the Hinckley Commercial Park. These include Armstrong Logistics, Caterpillar Logistics and Johnson Cleaners.
DPD believes that the new distribution hub will be instrumental in promoting Leicestershire as a major logistics location and will play a large role in attracting more investment to the region. This could create yet more jobs in the area and more opportunities for property owners and landlords to taking advantage of improvements to the local and national economy.
The Hinckley Commercial Park has been a huge success, largely due to the fact that it is situated directly between the East and the West Midlands and is a prime and convenient logistics location.
