The price of the average house in Leicestershire has gone up by more than £12,000 in the last year, according to new figures.
The data from property website Zoopla shows that the cost of an average Leicestershire house was £212,593 at the beginning of 2016, but this has gone up over the last year to reach £225,043. This marks an increase of £12,450, or 5.86 per cent.
Across the East Midlands overall, the price of the average house went up by 7.42 per cent to reach a level of £209,183. Zoopla spokesman Lawrence Hall said that the price rises experienced over the last ‘historic year’, when there was the potential for political uncertainty, demonstrated the resilience of the property market in Britain.
Zoopla data has also revealed some of the important factors people look for when searching for a Leicester property to buy. The website’s search figures reveal that the term ‘garden’ is the most used word during searches. This is followed by the word ‘garage’. Zoopla has also noticed a particular rise in the number of people searching for properties with parking during the last year, indicating the potential on offer for Leicester homeowners who want to sell their home with a garden, garage or parking space.
Whilst Zoopla is highlighting the importance of these factors for some buyers, however, we know that there are people looking for a huge variety of different properties in Leicester – and that there is always a multitude of property opportunities on offer. The city is renowned for its plentiful supply of family homes and affordable properties, but it is also home to the most expensive street in the whole of the East Midlands. New figures from Lloyds Bank reveal that Newton Linford’s Warren Hill has an average property price of £1,288,000, making it the city’s most expensive street and the highest-value road in the whole of the region.
